Description
This 2012 BMW M3 CRT is #24 of 67 lightweight sedans produced for the European market and spent time in Italy before being imported to the US in 2017 under the Show or Display exemption. The car was subsequently federalized by JK Technologies of Baltimore, Maryland and was recently re-acquired by the selling dealer. Finished in Frozen Polar Silver Metallic over Black Novillo and Sakhir Orange leather, the car is powered by an M3 GTS-derived 4.4-liter V8 that sends power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Additional features include a hood, front bucket seats, rear wing, front lip, and intake ducts constructed of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP), as well as a BMW Individual High End audio system, Park Distance Control, automatic dual-zone climate control, navigation, and a factory-equipped titanium exhaust system and adjustable KW coilovers. This E90 M3 CRT shows 700 miles and is offered in Huntington Station, New York with manufacturer’s literature, coilover adjustment forks, two key fobs, Show or Display paperwork, federalization documentation, and a clean Montana title. The M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology) marked the debut of BMW’s CFRP manufacturing process and featured a hood, rear wing, front lip, and intake ducts constructed using an aramid honeycomb core encased within two layers of carbon fiber. All examples of the M3 CRT were finished in Frozen Polar Silver Metallic (W73) with Melbourne Red accents on the hood vents, front fender vents, front lip, and rear wing. Satin black 19” M-branded Y-spoke wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires sized 245/35 up front and 265/35 out back. Stopping power is provided by black M-branded calipers paired with cross-drilled rotors at all four corners, and the car rides on factory adjustable KW coilovers. Two adjustment forks will accompany the vehicle. The cabin features front bucket seats made of CFRP and trimmed in Black Novillo leather with Sakhir Orange inserts, along with matching door panels and black carpets. Deviated orange stitching is found on the center console and seats, and amenities include a BMW Individual High End audio system, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Park Distance control. A plaque affixed to the passenger-side of the dash denotes the car as being #24 of 67 examples produced. An M-branded Alcantara-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames a digital display flanked by a 330-km/h speedometer and a 9k-rpm tachometer with inset fuel level and oil temperature gauges. The digital odometer shows just over 700 miles, around 200 of which have been added by the selling dealer. The 4.4-liter V8 was shared with the M3 GTS and factory rated at 450 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. A titanium exhaust was standard equipment on the CRT. The seller notes fluid changes were performed in November 2020. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below. To any potential buyer of this car, please take note that the vehicle is in the United States under an approved “show or display” exemption. Transfer of ownership must be approved by the NHTSA before the title changes hands. The buyer must also apply for a new “show or display” approval from the NHTSA and provide current photos of the car. Potential buyers should be aware that the vehicle is limited to up to 2,500 miles per year and must be made available for inspection by NHTSA until it is not less than 25 years old.
