Description

This 2008 BMW M3 coupe was converted into a race car under previous ownership in 2012 before being acquired by the current owner in 2013. The car wears a multi-color vinyl wrap over a race-prepped interior with a single Cobra fixed-back racing seat, a Sparco steering wheel, an AiM MXL digital display, and a custom roll cage with door bars. Power is provided by a 4.0-liter S65 V8 linked with a six-speed manual transmission and an OS Giken limited-slip differential with 4.45:1 gearing. Additional modifications include a carbon-fiber ventilated hood and adjustable rear wing as well as 18″ Rays VR G2 forged wheels, AP Racing brakes, MCS three-way adjustable coilovers, Hyperco springs, a transmission cooler, and a custom exhaust system with a crossover pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers. This E92 M3 race car has 42k miles and is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with SCCA and BMW CCA logbooks, partial service records, spare parts, and a clean Pennsylvania title. Originally finished in Jet Black, the car has been wrapped in a custom red, white, blue, black, and gray livery with various racing and sponsorship decals, and the seller notes that the left-front fender is a replacement component with a white finish. The car was delivered with a carbon-fiber roof panel, and a carbon-fiber Trackspec Motorsport ventilated hood has been installed along with an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing. The right mirror has been replaced with a smaller aftermarket unit, and the headlights and reverse lights have been removed. There is a dent in the right-rear quarter panel, and up-close photos of various blemishes, scratches, and other imperfections are presented in the gallery. Six-spoke 18″ Rays VR G2 forged wheels are mounted with 285/645 Pirelli P Zero slicks. Braking is handled by AP Racing six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers over multi-piece slotted discs measuring 14.2″ up front and 13.8″ out back. The car rides on MCS three-way adjustable coilovers with Hyperco springs, and further suspension modifications include a Dinan front sway bar and Rogue Engineering adjustable rear toe links. The race-prepped cabin features a red-finished roll cage with door bars and houses a single Cobra Evolution S fixed-back bucket seat equipped with head supports and mounted on Recaro seat brackets. Additional equipment includes an AiM SmartyCam HD camera and data acquisition system as well as a Motorola radio, a Schroth window net, and an SPA fire-suppression system. The seller notes that the Schroth multi-point harness has a 2022 expiration date, and that the car is wired and has a tray for a Cool Shirt system, though the box and shirt are not included in the sale. The three-spoke Sparco steering wheel has a button to activate the push-to-talk functionality for the 25w VHF radio, and driver earbuds and a paired pit radio and headset are included in the sale. The AiM MXL digital display with integrated shift lights is mounted ahead of factory instrumentation. The digital odometer indicates 42k miles, approximately 36k of which were added under current ownership. The 4.0-liter S65 V8 features double-VANOS variable valve timing and has reportedly been tuned by Epic Motorsports to utilize 100-octane fuel, and a VIN-specific OBD tuning cable is included in the sale. The power steering reservoir was replaced in May 2022, and a coolant flush was performed in October 2022 by Bavarian Specialties in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and an OS Giken limited-slip differential with REM-polished 4.45:1 gearset and bearings, a VAC motorsports finned billet differential cover, and an external fan-assisted ducted cooler. Turner Motorsports Delrin differential and subframe bushings have reportedly been installed. The catalytic converters have been removed, and the exhaust system has a crossover pipe, heat wrapping, and MagnaFlow mufflers. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Open manufacturer safety recalls related to the driver’s front airbag as well as the blower motor are listed in February 2016 and October 2017, respectively.
